About Bob Marshall

I am a freelance multimedia designer, developer and digital artist based near Edinburgh in Scotland. I started my business under the trading name of BMMedia in 2002.

My background and past experience is in television and video production. For over six years prior to 2002, I was part of a small creative team with one of Scotland's leading video production companies. It was here that I began working and specialising in the production of professional-end multimedia projects and video programmes, several of which won major international awards.

In 2002 I switched to working on a freelance basis under sub-contract with several design agencies and publishing houses. Since then I have built up a large portfolio of projects and clients and accumulated a wealth of experience developing powerful multimedia presentations to service the demanding requirements of organisations in the corporate and educational sector.

I continue to operate BMMedia as a close network of freelance designers and consultants, each highly skilled in different aspects of modern media including design, script-writing, application programming and audio visual equipment installation.

Skills

I have expert knowledge of most of the Adobe Creative Suite Software packages including: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Premiere, After Effects, Flash and Director.

I use a variety of different tools for web design and multimedia project development. In most cases I am comfortable and efficient at hand-coding XHTML, XML, ASP/VBScript, CSS, ActionScript 3 and Lingo. I have some intermediate knowledge of PHP and ColdFusion.

I use a vast array of software and plugins for producing 3D content but my usual program of choice is Blender. Quite apart from being very powerful open-source software, I have actively supported its continuing development and I regularly write and submit tutorials and articles intended to help other 3D artists get to grips with this very capable program.
